Youth Field Trips & Tours

 

Dig into urban gardening with a field trip to the Gateway Greening Demonstration Garden! Field trips are a hands-on and unique introduction to Gateway Greening and community gardening. Field trips include a garden exploration and tour, a compost or pollinator investigation, and a taste test. There is also an option to volunteer in the Demonstration Garden and meet the community coop chicken flock!

 

Eligibility: Gateway Greening Network Gardens, Non-Network Gardens, General Public

 

Hours and Locations

When: March – October, 9 AM-3 PM
Demonstration Garden: Monday – Friday
Gateway Greening must have at least two weeks notice of field trip date

Logistics:

  • 30 maximum participants
  • 60-90 minutes
  • Participants should arrive wearing weather-appropriate clothing, including rain jackets, warm clothing, and closed-toe shoes.
  • Groups should provide their own water bottles, sunscreen, and bug spray. Gateway Greening will not provide these.
  • Field trips include a taste test but meals and snack are not provided. Gateway Greening needs to be informed of any pertinent food allergies beforehand.
  • A ratio of 1 chaperone (adults)/10 students is required
  • A portable toilet is available onsite.

Fees & Forms

Pricing: $40 per group. Scholarships are available upon request.

Media Release:

  • After your field trip is scheduled, you will be sent a Media Release form to fill out for Gateway Greening to take and use pictures or videos of your students.
