Missouri's Invasive Species
Pints ‘n’ Plants is open to the public for free. Come enjoy a pint and learn about horticultural issues every third Wednesday of the month at the Schlafly Tap Room.
Gateway Greening welcomes Tim Banek, Invasive Species Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Conservation to talk about what we can do in urban environments to combat invasive species in the region.
"Exotic," "alien" or "non-native" species describe plants, animals, fungi or other organisms that have been accidentally or purposefully introduced to an area outside of their origin. Come learn how to protect your environment and your garden from these species.

Jack Petrovic of the Schlafly Bottleworks Garden will speak about diseases, varieties, best growing practices and much more. Gain insight on methods Schlafly gardeners use to combat the many adversaries surrounding the tomato and learn how to care for your plants till fruit.

Join Gateway Greening for the last Pints 'n' Plants of the season held at McPherson Community Garden. Folks came and learned about how to incorporate collected water to naturally benefit their garden and the environment. Guests included Eric Karch, from the River Des Peres Watershed Coalition, who spoke about how to maintain small system water barrels and where to install them at home or community gardens. We raffled away four rain barrels. Drinks were provided by Schlafly at no cost.

Paticipants learned about the basics of raising chickens in an urban setting. It was hosted at one of our Hub Community Gardens; 13th Street Community Garden, which houses and cares for 16 chickens and operates an egg CSA.
