Older classes are matched with a younger “buddy” class and visit the garden weekly. Students are engaged in either direct work with planting, watering or weeding or work. Harvested food is used in the school lunch program and any surplus food is donated to the local food pantry. In the summer families sign up to work in the garden in exchange for food. The program has strong connection with local community gardeners and support from the Parish which runs the school.
