Community Gardens

Gateway Greening’s Community Garden Program supports community gardens and urban greening projects that improve the neighborhoods and communities around them. These gardens, inspire, educate, and reflect the pride of the participants — often becoming community focal points and catalysts for neighborhood improvement.

Our program’s mission is to contribute to neighborhood vitality and stability through community food projects, wellness programs, and civic greening. We accomplish this by forming alliances with neighborhood groups to provide resources for citizen managed open spaces that encourage healthier, safer and more enriched lives.

The purpose of our Community Garden Program is to support neighborhood groups committed to creating successful food-producing gardens and urban greening projects. Gateway Greenings is committed to the long term support of these projects and we provide the resources and educational opportunities that enable community gardens to successfully develop food producing gardens and landscaped areas on public land.

We currently support over 200 community, school, and youth gardens and every year we award new garden and expand existing gardens. We have many resources available if you are interested in starting a community garden or wish to find a community garden near you to join.
