Organizations give to Gateway Greening for a very good reason. They want to teach children about healthy eating habits in outdoor classrooms. They want to convert vacant city land into food producing gardens. They want to provide job training for the chronically unemployed and give citizens a source for low-cost freshly grown food. They continue to give because for 27 years Gateway Greening has consistently provided services to the people of St. Louis. In 2009 87% of our budget went back into the communities we serve. Read below to meet some of the organizations that make this possible.
Missouri Foundation For Health
The Missouri foundation for Health is currently supprting the installation of hub gardens within the Gateway Greening network of community gardens. Our hub garden program allows for an established community garden to bulk up its resources and provide a gathering point for tool lending, educational resources, and seedling distribution. The Missouri Foundation for Health has recognized that Gateway Greening and community gardening have built a promising strategy for health. We are extremely greatful for their support.
The Monsanto Fund
Gateway Greening has enjoyed a long standing relationship with the Monsanto Fund and greatly appreciates their support. The grants they have awarded have helped us support our Roving Outreach Coordinator Ryan Barker in serving institutions with gardens which includes non-profit organizations, shelters, and youth service providers.
